Leading lifestyle blogger Marcus Troy of MarcusTroy.com is proof that a blogger's influence extends beyond, well, their blog. He recently teamed up with footwear giant PUMA on a collaboration that brings together classic sneakers, a digital experience and street style -- a sort of Jamel Shabazz of new media, if you will (yes, I said "new media"). AskMen recently caught up with Troy to learn more about the collaboration.

Sachin Bhola (SB): Tell us about how your collaboration with PUMA came to be.
Marcus Troy (MT): I sat down with PUMA a few months ago and we discussed how we could work together on a digital collaboration. I conceptualized this idea of bringing together PUMA and street style and the people who love the brand. I wanted to tell a story about the PUMA suedes and how they impacted street style culture in the late '70s and '80s. I wanted to reimagine how “styling in suedes” in the form of street style photos would look like in 2012.

SB: How do you rock the Puma Suedes?
MT: I think the PUMA suedes are so versatile that I can wear them with everything. I enjoy wearing them with a suit; it looks really fresh.

SB: In your opinion, what is the most unique way you've seen them being worn?
MT: The submissions have been so awesome it is hard to say who wore them the best, but my favorite has to be wearing them with a suit. We have two submissions and they look great!

SB: The digital experience this collaboration is creating is cool. Talk to us a little bit about that. How do you see technology impacting the communication of men's fashion in the next five years?
MT: Forget the next five years, it is happening now! Technology is allowing people from all around the world to communicate about the things they love and are passionate about. Fashion seems to be a very important part of that conversation and technology is only helping that process. I love collaborating with brands on digital projects. It allows me to tell a deeper brand story and connect with my audience on a more intimate level.

SB: I'm a big fan of Jamel Shabazz as well -- he really captures a sense of time and culture in his photographs. Fast forward to, say, 2040: How are we going to be portrayed in the 2010s? That is, if someone were to be nostalgic for the 2010s in 2040, what do you think that would look like?
MT: I think people are going to be laughing at us, ha! Back in the day there seemed to be a common theme in the way people dressed; today it is really all over the place. Hopefully style blogs will still be around and we will have all these looks documented.
